Our doctoral degree programs focus on the fields of Business and Management, Education, and Health Care. Within these fields we have seven doctoral programs, and a specialist degree.

A specialization places a specific emphasis of study within a larger degree program. The School of Advanced Studies offers three specializations within two degree programs:
- Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership with a Specialization in Curriculum and Instruction
- Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership with a Specialization in Educational Technology
- Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership with a Specialization in Higher Education Administration
- Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership with a Specialization in Information Systems and Technology
University of Phoenix® doctoral programs are primarily online, with three face-to-face residency experiences. The only exception is the Post-Master’s Educational Specialist degree, which does not have a residency. Residencies are available in select cities. This means you can attend class from anywhere in the world.
All of the School of Advanced Studies doctoral programs are online programs (with a face-to-face residency component). As an online student, you will still have access to the facilities and support opportunities available at our campus locations.
One of the most convenient aspects of the University of Phoenix online learning model is that you choose the days and times to participate in class each week. You do need to meet the minimum participation requirements by posting substantive contributions to the classroom on three of seven days each week.
While there are due dates for assignments, when you do the work for those assignments is up to you.

The School of Advanced Studies may accept up to 39 doctoral-level credits, depending on the program, from a regionally or nationally accredited institution of higher learning. Moving is no problem when you are a student at the School of Advanced Studies. You can continue your degree program online throughout your move anywhere in the world, as long as you have access to the Internet.
Yes, all School of Advanced Studies faculty members have doctoral degrees. Additionally, most hold positions within the fields they teach. When they are not teaching class, our instructors are leaders in their respective organizations.
No, doctoral degrees from University of Phoenix are not related to any type of certification or licensure for teaching or otherwise.
